Our local area takes parts in the National Garden scheme every year and this year, 26 gardens in Bedfordshire (both public and private) opened their gates to raise money for nursing and health charities.
We visited a Japanese inspired topiary garden a few weeks ago, owned by a couple in Wootton. Compact, sheltered and lusciously green, it was a happy surprise to find such a garden situated in a quiet suburban area of Bedfordshire. Sheltered pathways, huge Japanese maples and little stone lanterns nestled amongst the greenery. There was even a koi pond!
